06/01/2021

For those who don't know, WWDC is the Worldwide Developers Conference organized by Apple. In this yearly event, the tech giant announces upcoming features and software platforms to the global developers' community. Keep reading the blog to find more details about the WWDC 2021 event!

WWDC 2021- A Virtual Event!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year the event will be all virtual. WWDC events are usually held in San Jose. But even this year, the giant is committed to supporting the San Jose economy by committing $1 million to SJ Aspires, an educational and equity initiative.

This year the event's tagline is "Glow and Behold" with last year's viral artwork by Craig Federighi. This might be a hint for some interesting AR and VR announcements.

WWDC 2020 was also held online and it drew a whopping number of viewers. There were a total of 22 million attendants across Apple's streams.

Time, Date & More!

The virtual event will be held from 7 to 11 June. It is likely to get started with a keynote address from company executives, developers, and Tim Cook. This State of the Union presentation will go on for a week presenting ways for developers to connect with company engineers.

What To Expect From The Presentation?

The tech giant always previews what to expect from the yearly presentation. This year we would be expecting updates in-

  • iOS 15

  • watchOS 8

  • iPadOS 15

  • tvOS 15

  • macOS 12

So far the news has indicated that iPadOS 15 will have major updates to the home screen. iOS 15 will have new notification features and some other upgrades to the Do Not Disturb feature. The tech giant will announce these newly enhanced software versions during its annual event WWDC 2021. The company will then make developer beta available without any further ado.

The public beta will be released later in the summer, which will be followed by a general release in the fall.

Are you eager about the updates on any new hardware?

Well, the new hardware is not out of the picture. In WWDC 2021 we will surely witness the ongoing transition of Mac to Apple Silicon. But we'll definitely have to wait for the actual event to know more. Outside of MacBook Pro, the company is also working on updating MacBook Air, Mac Mini, and Mac Pro.

We all have heard the rumors that Apple is carrying out the development of a mixed-reality headset that is supposed to be launched in 2022. It is possible that the giant displays a few teasers of this product at WWDC this year. We can expect the teaser because it would need the developers to create mobile apps and some games, especially for their mixed-reality headset.

According to Apple's official statement, the company will present some unique insight into the future of-

  • iOS

  • iPadOS

  • macOS

  • watchOS

  • tvOS
